UkuleleBlues.com and BluesUkulele.com was created and is maintained by Curt Sheller.
A lot more ukulele content can be found on my main site at: ukulele.curtsheller.com
My first career was as a graphic designer-artist. Actually went to a small two-year commercial art school. Worked in a direct mail art department after graduating. Before getting downsized learned DTP (Desktop Publishing) and actually how to program on a Mac starting with HyperCard then Pascal, Object Pascal, C++ and object-oriented programming. Landed a series of programing gigs, got downsized or projects cancelled. Always kept the music going. I've been playing and studying guitar for over 40 years. A serious student of jazz guitar since 1978. Very short foray into uke in the early 80's. But didn't know enough about guitar then and there where no books or Internet for ukulele.
The books started as a few guitar books on scales and chords. Then when I was reintroduced, ie, stumbled on to the uke agin. I saw a need for more advanced material. I had the material and the chops to get the books out. Plus, at that point I was half way decent on guitar and understood a lot of the principles and theory behind music and learning a fretted string instrument.
So my background in art and programming allows me to do 100% of the work involved in creating a book. From concept and design to all else that is involved in being a one-man publishing empire. I also do all my own the web work. The html, css, JavaScript and now learning Ruby and Rails. I perform and teaching guitar, bass and ukulele to over 50 private students weekly. Music is now my full time gig. I got tired of being downsized. I'm finally down to the size I like – "one", me.
